As a student design intern for Taneux Architects, I assisted with the preliminary design of the master plan for the Zhaoqing Eco-Village in China’s Guangdong Province. On this project I also participated in the following:
Club House
The client wanted a private club house for entertaining government officials and VIP guests. As the village was planned around a large lake, the client proposed to locate the club house on a small mid-lake island. My role included preliminary concept planning.
Restaurant
As part of a main entrance into the village from the highway, the restaurant would be one of the first points of contact for visitors. My role included the preliminary design of this three-storey restaurant including optimising the number of seats, private rooms and reception hall for special occasions. I also assisted the client in modifying the building design to meet their ‘feng shui’ requirements.
Community Church
I participated in the design of the layout of a simple community church. Having completed a sacred structure course at UNSW, I was able to assist in the organisation and planning of various religious components of a Catholic church.
